    Default Roger Waters' The Wall

I thought we'd take a break from all the divisive political threads and start one about one of the greatest albums and live shows of all time. This past Monday I had the priviledge of attending Roger Waters' latest tour of The Wall. It was an amazing spectacle of classic music, stunning visuals and theatricality, and certainly one of the best concerts I've seen in my life, worth every penny the ticket was worth. I've seen countless concerts by "classic rock" acts, yet this one has lingered in my mind for days now. I saw Roger Waters about 5 years ago and that was amazing too, but The Wall was definitely different. As a life-long Pink Floyd fan this was a dream come true for me, and I've been blasting my CD copy of the Wall in my truck all week just to relive old and newfound memories.

So, has anybody else seen this recent tour, or perhaps you were fortunate enough to see it the first time 'round? Perhaps some German members were lucky enough to be at the Berlin performance in 1990? What are your thoughts and memories of this legendary show?

I have yet to see his performance of The Wall(though i'd really like to), but I saw him several years ago perform Darkside of the Moon and some of his solo stuff. The only other concert I saw that even came close was when The Who retoured with Quadrophenia back in the 90's.

The last time I saw him the first set was classic Floyd and solo songs, and then he said "We're going to take a break and then we're going to play Dark Side of the Moon for you good people," just like it was as easy as putting on the album, and it was note perfect. Probably the same tour as you attended.

BTW - I saw The Who several years back too. Another favourite of mine

It probably was. I want to say it was 2007 but I have problems remembering things. A lot of brain cells were killed in college.

I too am a huge Floyd fan and was fortunate enough to see them years ago (minus Waters actually) but I havent seen the Wall show. It would be awesome to catch. Unfortunately one of the disadvantages of living down under is thast sometimes rock acts dont tour here.

I had a free ticket to see this in Lisbon... but it was the eve of an important exam and I decided to study for the exam. I don't regret doing that, but I do think about it a lot. If it was Pink Floyd and not just Roger Waters I'd given a leg and would hop the 300km that separate my town from the venue on the eve of my wedding.
On a side note, I am a Pink Floyd fan, but The Wall is not my favourite album. Of course, the live experience is something else, I'm sure... but it needs all the 4 boys to have that sound and not just Waters.

He came through town with that a couple of months ago but I was stone broke and couldn't afford the tickets. I've seen Pink Floyd twice though and they were amazing, mind blowing even both times.

I'm a long time huge fan as well, and own everything of theirs I've been able to put my hands on. I don't even listen to Dark Side any more though. My favs are the Final Cut followed closely by Animals and then Unmmagumma. I love those guys!

I'm a composer. You know... contemporary stuff. Pianos, orchestras and electroacoustic stuff. Stockhausen, Boulez and other "serious" intelectual composers of fabulously intricate music. And, for me, Dark Side of the Moon is a master-piece. That's it. I don't hear it often... I save it for the moments I really need it. It is glorious.
I also like Ummagumma - it is a serious experiment on contemporary electroacoustic music. Think "Several species..." and "The Grand Vizir's Garden Party". It is serious late 60's tape composition.
Animals is one of the great albums. The Final Cut is a master piece in production. But the lack of Rick Wright's keyboard is noteable.

I have seen Pink Floyd live on two occasions.
I went for the show basically, as everyone said it was stunning.
I've never really liked their music much...
My older brother loves PF, but I just never "found" it personally.
