Thanked: 485Friends
Guys, you're a good cross section of guys; very diverse. Just want to ask you a question. How many of you have no friends at all? We all have work mates; people we talk to at work that we're 'friendly' with, we all have the guy at the shop we may share a joke with, but how many of you have no friends at all; friends being people you ring (phone), go to the pub with, or movies, or invite to a BBQ, or to work on your car; not counting family? I'm 50, and I've never had a single friend in my entire life that I'd actually ring and say "let's go to the pub". Is that weird?
CarlStranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

A tad unusual I think, but not unheard of by any mean. Some people are just more introverted than others. I'm damn introverted myself, though I have a few very long term friends, but a very few.

Thanked: 334Yes, that's quite odd. Then again, aren't we all? I mean, we willingly hold some of the sharpest instruments devised by humankind to our own throats and try NOT to cut ourselves with implements that are precisely designed to do just that! Talk about Russian roulette!

You seem like a decent, likeable guy-I bet any number of your acquaintances would call you a friend. At least you're not one of these poor schmucks who consider it a badge of honor to have hundreds of Faceboook "friends."

Thanked: 884Used to have one.
Me "bruvver", Mikey, lived in my "mother-in-law" apt. He had a hot rod shovel head and I had one as well. He was the only guy on the planet that I would ride beside drunk or sober.
We drank a LOT together, cracked a few heads together, and ran a lot of old hides. We raised Hell and put a prop under it on more than one occasion.
He got married and I did too.
We see each other about twice a year now. LOL

I have a couple of friends that I call; just that every time I call, they seem to be busy doing other things.
I guess I just keep calling at the wrong times.

Carl you bring up very interesting topics. I don't have anymore "lets go to the pub" friends. I'm older and don't find much need for them. Now I prefer the company and comfort of my family, and once the little one is in bed, a dry gin martini up with 2 olives with my wife. I don't really miss the bar/pub scene to tell you the truth. I had a good friend I used to enjoy hanging out with at the pool hall, but lately it's been difficult as he complains about his life/marriage, while I OTOH love mine. If you ever find yourself in Tucson, AZ, I would go to the bar/pub with my SRP friend and enjoy every minute of it, and if you need to work on your car, just tell me what tools you need and I will hand them to you.

Thanked: 485Why thank you. I do like conversing, even if it's via a computer. Just wondered, really. I'm happy with my own company, and a dog or two, and nature; that's about all I really need, and God. I could sit an contemplate for days. I like thinking. I don't really LIKE people, and I guess that's a bit of a barrier to friendship; I think it shows most of the time. I think often in day to day life my disdain is evident.
And yes, Maple, of course I need a hug. We all need a hug. Constantly, and with OUT ceasing...Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
