Every country out there and I don't care how homogeneous they are, they can find some group to hate within their own country. It's really very easy. Anybody who doesn't look like you, or has another religion or talks a bit different or dresses a bit different or maybe just comes from the South and everyone knows those from the South of ... are just inferior.
Examples of this are all over the world. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

That is sadly a reality today. Extreme right wingers like Breivik are sadly attacking against immigrant, even those who have done nothing wrong, just being the wrong skin color or religion. I do not like the word it looks today.
But it has always been so, and this has nothing do to with the thread. We have gupsy minority, or romani, if you wish, that has been here for maybe 500 years. 'Horsemen and thieves', as they were called. They have pretty different culture or ways to live and that used to be some kind of issue when i was young. We have Samian minority too, but never (or at least with the last 400 years) we've had no problem living with them. Nowadays they have semi-authonomic area in the northern part of Scandinavia.
Howevers, back in the days of old when i was kid, it used to be very common that 'white folks' (angry young men) went into gupsy towns (although they are white too, but they have black hair which Finns do not) to look for a fight, which happened of course. And vice versa. I lived with my grand parents in a small county town.
Now, once happened that gupsies came with 3 buses in our town to look for a fight again. And of course local older boys started to get their baseball bats and all but my grandfather decided to call the police because, as a veteran, he didn't fancy violence.
The answer that the police gave him in a phone was/and is still something to remember: I think that you boys in town are capable of dealing this kind of problem without any help from police. Just make sure you do not use weapons or kill anyone.
Nowadays it makes me laugh but it was reality back then.Last edited by Sailor; 07-27-2012 at 11:23 PM.
