Khor Al Udaid
Not really road pics, there are none of those in this area.
It is in the south of the Qatar Peninsula, on the border with Saudi Arabia (just under an hour's drive from where I live). Uninhabited during the summer months, but this time of year camps spring up (October-March). During this time we spend every weekend there.
At around 15:30 Hrs, the local youths assemble at the first of around 4 locations. These locations have very large sand dunes that have been hollowed out by the wind. They take turns in making runs across the dune, there is a minimum speed below which the car will roll sideways down the dune. Kudos is earned for speed, flamboyance and time spent airborne.
Somewhat spontaneously every one jumps in the cars and head for one of the other dunes, some 300 or so vehicles (mainly Nissan patrols, Toyota Landcruisers as well as buggies and some purpose built sand Rails) generally, complete mayhem.
This whole process is repeated until final prayer time, then back to camp for Shisha.

Thanked: 983That would bring out the Australian Country Boy half of me. I could get into mayhem like that with absolutely no concern for life and limb, and be laughing all the way. I would want to do it in a Landcruiser trayback (Ute) though and chuck in a bit of circle work while I was at it!
