I actually read the article. The guy sounds like an utter whack-job. Problem is, in Upstate SC I'm surrounded by tin-hatters just like him. Jeez, remember the black helicopters from the 80's? It seems a lot of people need to believe these conspiracy theories for whatever reason...Bruno was right-we go a little crazy in the US every four years. But I don't think that in 47 years that I have ever seen partisan extremism push the two sides apart as far as they are now. If our so-called leaders (and their constituents) don't dial down the rhetoric and seek some compromise in the near future (somewhere between "Abolish the EPA" and regulate industries out of existence, for one example), I don't have much hope for us.

You are right, we would have had war no matter who was in office, never let a crisis go to waste. If it was truly a just war, there would have been no ground troops used at all. We should have been after those involved and not everybody and their brother in the middle east. It would have been a job for the FBI at home, the CIA abroad and whoever does the wet work at night. No need to spend the billions of dollars wasted, no need for the great loss of American life, no need for the HSA, TSA, Patriot Act or the NDAA.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Like I've said before if anyone thinks this partisanship and divide just happened I've got a bridge to sell you. It's a well orchestrated action by the rich and corporations to divide the population and cast doubt on the Govt so folks will think its big business that's really their friends and actions to help business do whatever they feel like doing is the name of the game. I think they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Maybe too much and maybe they have created a monster. But of course if the country collapses the rich will be the first to get on their private jets with their money and go elsewhere along with their corporations leaving the population to the wolves.

Thanked: 13249You know, I just listened to a small business owner yesterday speak of expanding and improving his business, which would mean him doubling his workforce from 3 to 6.. I know I know not a big deal right ??? but that is a 100% increase in empolyment...
You know what is stopping him ????
He has to spend $15k in Government Buracracy before he can pound a nail or pour a bag of concrete... This is an exsisting business it is already there, he just wants to enlarge the building office space and pave the other half of the parking lot (bid at $35k)... imagine the cost if this was new construction...
Keep in mind that the town where this is happening barely has building codes, outside city limits there are noneI wonder what the bureaucratic cost would be for the same venture in a real city ?????

Thanked: 459?? Mitt's record in Mass was pretty moderate, almost liberal in some cases. Despite Mitt's ability to make money, he's never really been conservative.
I saw the comment earlier that the election was between two moderates, and I have no clue how anyone would see Obama's past voting record as moderate. His talk is moderate now because it has to be or he'll lose moderate and independent voters. It doesn't help to be a president and be extreme, either, regardless of votes, because nothing you want will ever get through congress - folks from states with lots of independents, even in your own party, will abandon you, and the entire other side of the aisle will, too.
GWB talked a lot like a conservative but Medicare Part D and MAPD plans and bailouts don't sound very conservative to me.
Romney's past record is truly moderate, though, to the point that he used to be on the liberal side of some things, especially social issues.
