Engraving?
Engraving?
Well i sure it is a simple and Common Sense question but instead of ruining a perfect straight i thought i would ask before, can i get my straight engraved or would it mess up the something on the straight?

Thanked: 1Your razor is too hard to engrave. That would have to be done on a custom razor before it was heat treated.

thanks for your quick reply, i thought there would be a problem with doing it, is there anyway i could make a standard straight a bit more personal? or does it have to be custom made?

How about custom scales. By going this
route, the sky is the limit.

is there a place that sells just the scales or examples of custom ones that i can look at or do you just get them off razors that look good?

I'm not sure if a place exists that sells scales.
But you could either make your own or
quite a few of the forum members make
scales. garythepenman is one. Bill also
makes scales. Also Joe Chandler.
Checkout the Restoration part of the forum
for examples.

Thanked: 1I gave a simple answer to a direct question. If your intent is to personalize the razor, there are a number of things you can do, depending on how much of it you want to do on your own.
You can learn restoration stuff here in the forums to do the work yourself, or have someone else do it for you.
On the blade decoration thing, there IS something you can do. It cannot be engraved as I already said, but you CAN have it etched. Shoot Vlad a PM to see how much he would charge you to do what you had in mind.
He goes by vladsch here on the forums.

Thanked: 0I would worry about causing a stress riser. This would be a location for a crack to start.

There IS always the option of acid or laser etching....
But the easiest method might be to have custom scales made (check the 'restoration' are for makers)
