The experts believe it belongs to the Texas Blue Eyed Catfish.

Probably what was left over, after that alien was attached by a South Beach Cannibal.

    Good question...
Only speculation so far and by the time it
is known for sure I doubt the news will follow up.

One speculation was that it was an allergic reaction.
The bugs are full of foul stuff that in large amounts
could trigger a reaction not too different than
peanut allergy or a bee sting.

So perhaps he got a big bag of bad ones
    not just one.

Eating bugs is common, but roaches not so much
because they build up toxic crud. Eating them in a
    contest could be nasty....

That is the most grotesque thing I've read about in a long time. I can only conclude that the winner of that contest got what he wanted from it.

Today, Florida had a Roach Eating Contest, one man died.
Why is it always my state with this ridiculous crap? Why does Florida attract all the freaks and Society’s worst? I was born here & in 2008 choose to stay here for my son’s best interest, I thought. Texas was my second choice, with two brothers born there, El Paso & Ft. Worth. I swear when my son is on his own, with his career job, I’m headed to Texas.
The thing that troubled me more than the roach eating contest, was that the authorities stated, that they were puzzled at the possible cause of death and were waiting on autopsy results.

Miami Beach, the Keys, Disney World, spring break destinations (I've been to several in FL during college), gators... there's a lot to still enjoy in La Florida. When Disney starts promoting those eating insect contests -- that's when you make a run for the plains of Texas.

Who can afford Disney these days, sad to say. Even the water parks are over priced.
Once the boy gets a job that can support a family, I'm headed to Texas; gonna take pictures on the road with Wullie.
Maybe buy one of those abandoned buildings.
