My Florida, I Love Her So.
Georgia has the Masters Golf Tournament
Kentucky has the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
Hawaii has the Ironman World Championships.
Colorado is home to our Olympic Training Center.
Today, Florida had a Roach Eating Contest, one man died.
Why is it always my state with this ridiculous crap? Why does Florida attract all the freaks and Society’s worst? I was born here & in 2008 choose to stay here for my son’s best interest, I thought. Texas was my second choice, with two brothers born there, El Paso & Ft. Worth. I swear when my son is on his own, with his career job, I’m headed to Texas.
The thing that troubled me more than the roach eating contest, was that the authorities stated, that they were puzzled at the possible cause of death and were waiting on autopsy results.
Really ?
Really ??

Did he eat too many of them or just get a bad one?

Well, I guess it can be compared to oysters, he could have gotten a bad one.
God's way of thinning the herd.

The "Fall Festival" just ended here in my location. Second largest street festival in the nation next to Mardi Gras. They have all kinds of things like that for sale. Cricket lollipops, scorpion candy, ... Chocolate covered bacon. Apparently what holds true in "Field of Dreams" holds in real life. "If you build it, they will come" ... And eat it.
It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

Thanked: 1185Ironic really, I'm not native but it only took me 4 years to get here. I celebrated my 5th birthday on I-75 headed for our new life in Florida. Funny you should mention Texas. It was my last assignment in the Air Force and I made good my escape in the summer of 2005. I breifly considered retiring in the Corpus Christi area but then decided that the wrong side of the Gulf would never do. No this isn't the Florida I knew as a child or left in 1980 but it will do.
My Dad used to say that the Almighty must have a soft spot for idiots because he made so many of them. I'll admit that reports such as this make it pretty clear that the percentage of our state's population that is dead from the neck up is pretty dog gone high. However, stupidity is ubiquitous, you can't run and you can't hide. Every year at Thanksgiving in Texas, they would consistently run PSAs about not using turkey fryers in your living room/garage (well duh!!!) but religiously every year a dozen or so hapless Billy Bob's would burn their houses to the ground using an outdoor turkey fryer in their carpeted living room (can't miss the football game putzing around in the yard frying a turkey you know.) That sounds a bunch stupider to me than some guy that experienced an allergic reaction to dumpster born shellfish.
