Without the help of Ambien? Not much. With it, 7 hours.

Work days I'm usually in bed for around eleven, and up around 5.30am. On non working days, another 2 hours on in the morning does me just fine.

Thanked: 603Unlike my buddy/neighbor, I rarely get more than six hours of sleep (and that's usually broken by the needs of a 60-year-old bladder). The major contributing factor is being unemployed -- I don't have to get up. The other factor is fallout from my having "wintered-over" last year in Fairbanks, AK: unemployed, with 24/7 darkness, I became a season-long shut-in, only leaving home for the Friday public-library/supermarket foray. Now that I'm back in South Florida, nothing's changed (other than the horrible weather). So, I end-up going to bed anywhere between 2AM-6AM and, on a Good Day, sleeping until late-morning or noon.
An example: I stayed up all night, and didn't get to bed until 7AM this morning... now, it's almost 2PM (and I've been up since shortly after noon)... yeah, I was honing a "Sears & Sons" 6/8 wedge -- but that's a different story, eh?
Damn right "the coffee is good" -- I roasted it!

My sleeping patterns are really bad! It all depends on uni and work and attempting to fit in personal time as well for me.
I get to bed anywhere from midnight-3am and get up anywhere from 6-10ish. I will usually wake up around the 8 o'clock mark most days if I'm not already up and will try to sleep if I don't have to get up, key word is try. So my average average is about 7 with just work average being about the same but uni average is just a mess. Right now I am running on 4 hours last night and 4 the night before and will not get any at all tonight due to uni studies

Thanked: 983I usually operate on six giver or take an hour. I like the quiet time when the family all go to bed at night, so I stay up later. Then I usuall wake up first in the morning and enjoy that quiet time before the family get up.
Got no idea why I'm such a bad influence on Hirlau...

The older I get, the more trouble I have getting to sleep and staying asleep.
I hate knowing what I am going to be working on the next day because I will dream about it and pick at it all night. Waking up several times in the night and worrying about it.
Lately my Dr proscribed Ambien. It works. First I only took it very occasionally, but now it is every night. I can fall asleep quickly and if I wake it is generally bladder related and I can fall right back asleep. I'm hooked.
