30 hours in Honalulu.
Woohoo I finally get to go to Hawaii. I will have one full day. Puka dogs and Waikiki beach a must. I will be on foot and the only other thing I want to do is visit Waikiki gun shop. Anyone have any other suggestions (must be very cheap or free). I will be staying about a block from Waikiki beach. I love my job some times.

I don't venture in to Waikiki much unless I have to these days. I don't think to much really happens on Monday or Tuesday nights. Waikiki Gun Shop is cool I have shot there once. I know you said that you will be on foot The City and County of Honolulu has one of the best Bus systems in the nation TheBus it is a cheap option to see the island or to get from A to B. I would see what is going on in your hotel or surrounding properties. It is always interesting to just walk around at night, I used to start at the northern side of Waikiki near Ft. DeRussy and walk down Kalakaua Ave. to the Zoo and then walk back up Kuhio Ave. to my starting point. I have not yet had a Puka Dog yet, but I would recommend a Luau, Germaine's or Paradise Cove are popular neither are in Waikiki though. If you like Museums there is the US Army Museum at Ft. DeRussy it is free, there is also the Bishop Museum it is not free. Feel free to bounce any ideas or places off me if I can help or know anything about it I will try to help.
Aloha,

Thanks for the tips and suggestions, I will check out public transportation. I really love people watching. I will see what the property the company sets me up in has to offer for sure and surrounding properties as well. I hadnt thought about that. I know our preferred property is right next to a set of towers (the names elude me at the moment). A colleague a snorkeling opportunity fairly near the hotel. He wasnt sure if it was walking distance or not though. He said it was a shallow bay and a popular place.

Take the bus to north shore.. Go to sunset beach, sharks cove for snorkeling, and then go to the shrimp trucks for dinner. Best scampi I ever had! Not the korean one though. Go to the porteguese owner. They make the best shrimp and two scoops!

My favorite Shrip Truck is Giovanni's in Kahuku. Giovanni's Shrimp Truck The North Shore is nice but winter is big wave season snorkeling at Sharks Cove probably won't be an option. I have done many NCDs (Night Combat Dives) there. I would stick to Hanauma Bay it is like swimming in an aquarium. In the summer months the surf is bigger on the South and West shores, in the winter the big swells come and hit the North and East shores.
Disclaimer: I am not a Combat Diver my buddy and I just referred to our night dives there as such due to the level of difficulty, going out in less than pristine conditions, and the abuse suffered.Last edited by dustoff003; 10-26-2012 at 05:32 AM. Reason: additions
