Heh, I think you should read up on your history again mate.
Philips did discover and operate the first well on Ekofisk, but we already knew there was oil out there, and lots of it.
Shell, Statoil, BP, Exxon, ELF, Agip and all the other big oil companies where given prospects out in the North sea, the biggest operator being Statoil.
US companies did provide much needed expertise in the beginning of our development of our reserves, as did the UK, Netherland and others.
But the claim that the US made Norway what it is today is not the best testament to your teachers in all honesty.
New Mexico, the place where yankees think they need a passport to visit. Of course, the only thing keeping New Mexico afloat is all us Texans spending our money enjoying all the damn mountains you have more than your share of. I think Texas gave up a huge chunk of territory sometime after 1836.
Honestly all the talk of war is just silly,, The states are talking of Fiscal Secession ie: no federal monies in or out...
Closing the borders of the states are also high on the list as is residency requirements...
Two areas that have been said to have the actual ability to do this
Texas
And what was the Big 4 now the Big 5 ID, MT, ND, SD, WY, (Combined population of < 5 million and < 2% of the US population) They have huge resources within their borders and land area wise they are all in the top 19 states by size including Alaska which is another state that could do as she wants...
These states can supposedly actually do it..
Trade would not be an issue, nobody was talking about a civil war they are talking about the basis of Law ie: the Constitution and Federal taxation...
Anyway we all know it won't happen... But I do see a push from these States for less federal involvement in the future
