I tell you though... it's hard! There is so much noise out there it's kind of mind boggling! I think I might know a little about tax's and my wife is an honest to goodness pro, but it took me until today to get the cob-webs out of my head and realize what a joke it all was!
I hurts lol! No wonder no one trusts the government! Aren't THEY supposed to know?
Ok, ok - no one reply to that last sentence !David

First let me say that I'm no finantial wizzard, but I think it would be interisting to see what Mr. Obamas supporters in hollywood would think about a tax that would make them pay 75-80% on everything they make over one million dollars.Somehow I don't see them showing up at too many more rallies.Imagine if Oprah had to pay that kind of dough? or any of the other elite who don't actually work,in the sence that most of us do?There is one other source of revenue that thay might look at,people who "play"for a living,Talent is worth something ,but when you play baseball for a living ang get paied fifty million to "play" something seems wrong about that to me,and I think the same tax rate should apply to them also. Pitty me......
Just think, I get to live under her cloak of power. Her and her buddy, Bab's, have all but ruined farming in the Central Valley. Why they still pull in the Latino vote is beyond me, given all they have done to ruin sources of income for them. Not only farm labor, but anyone who is crazy enough to want to start a new business in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

I think Obama wants to tax that at 40%, but from what I hear the republicans say that'll kill the economy. So, either the republicans just love the liberal Hollywood, or there are bigger cats they're worried about.
Do you know if for some reason they are exempt from paying the current top tax rate on that income? I don't think of them as a group with a strong lobbying muscle who is able to buy special treatment, but I don't really know.

Tax the Rich
As long as Elections are funded by Private Contributions you're going to have a situation where the people and corporations that Pay get what they want. It the old saying: If you take their Coin; you dance their dance!

Tax the Poor!
Taxes are evil but are the price we must pay to live.
However it should be a fair and equal tax since all US citizens are considered equals. 30% of each dollar paid as wages salaries and/or tips over a set limit.... the poverty line, no deductions beyond that.
Each earner of wages salaries and/or tips should pay the same rate. No special perks for kids, mortgages, retirement, spouses (or the lack thereof) or anything else. Also, no refunds in excess of what the individual paid in.
After the first year or so we can adjust the rate as need be.
Naturally, the first step it to close all non-essential federal agencies: education, arts, dea, agriculture, health and human services, commerce, energy, housing, fish & wildlife, interior, peace corps, transportation... just to name a few. Basically if the agency is not in the constitution it needs to go now. Sure these areas would only save a few billion dollars but a billion here, a billion there soon you are talking real money
I would also ditch the air force. All the other branches have helicopters and the navy and marine (a small navy department itself) have planes. Give the missiles to the army and spread the aircraft out to the navy and marines. Think of the money saved when the bases close particularly those outside the US they tend to cost more than twice the price of a similar US base.
but please start by taxing the poor so they can pay their fair share.
