Thanked: 884Lasik/lLaser eye surgery questions/advice
One of the BIG laser eye surgeons here in this area is running a $2500 BOTH eye special. Free consultation. I quizzed the kid on the phone about my presbyopia and she said no problem as long as I don't have cataracts they can fix the lens to where I can see again without tri-focals.
Anybody have any experience and care to share?
Thanks,

If they still do what they did 10 or so years ago,..... a friend had it done. They will make it so one eye sees distance and the other close up. So you look down the road with one eye and read with the other. He said it took some getting used to. It is only good for so long and then your eyes will do the natural aging thing just like before. He spent a few thousand on it IIRC. I'm still wearing the same bifocals I was wearing back then. Probably time to go get a new prescription.

Thanked: 884That is still an option, but from what I hear they've improved their technique to where that isn't the only route. It's would probably mess me up big time as I'm right handed with a dominant left eye.

Awe dude - that's my affliction too. Makes shooting clay's uh.. interesting sometimes.
I haven't had it done, but all my friends seem to be flocking to the guy here in town doing it. It's almost a freaking fad lol! I am still too much of a wimp to even entertain it though.
The one thing they all say is the smell freaked them out.
Good luck Wullie.David

Thanked: 884Can't smell any worse than branding cattle.
I'm going to go for the FREE CONSULTATION tomorrow and see what I think.

+ 1..... I'm also right handed and left eye dominant and too much of a wimp to try it ..... or to want to pay that much for it. BTW, there was a paper my buddy had to sign after the told him there is a slight chance of total blindness ..... you have to absolve them of any blame no matter how it turns out. They didn't make that stipulation with my bifocals.

Got Lasik a few years ago. Love it. It's nice being able to wake up and see the alarm clock so I can hit the snooze button. I have had no degradation in vision since the surgery. My vision before the surgery was bad but did not change much. So I think my vision should stay around 20/20 for years to come. But shop around and make sure you are getting the best surgeon. I did not read the other comments so not sure if I am just being repetitive. The only down side is my eyes seem to get dry easier but I keep eye drops around. Good luck.

Thanked: 485This is interesting, I'm as blind as a bat and my contact lenses have really been pissing me off lately. However, I keep thinking surgery will render me blind or my eyes will explode if I ever go up in a plane or something...
