While I love the classics as much as anyone, you gotta admit that without the "cool sounds of those hep cats" back in the '40's (Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Phil Harris), the '50's May not have been as good as they were.

Many musicians have said that others before them had been an influence one way or the other!
Here's where Keith Richards is practicing and is corrected by a man he admired, Mr. Chuck Berry.
You try again, Keith - YouTube
I've tried for about an hour to find the vid where they play it live in St, Louis but I couldn't. The clip is great because right after they get going chuck walks over to Keith and says something and Keith shakes his to indicate 'No'. At the end of the video is an interview with Keith and he says that Chuck wanted to change the key they were playing in after practicing 10 days for this performance!!
As I believe Keith said " he wanted to just throw it to the wind"!

Here's a live one for you! My Mom loved it! Notice how he keeps track of what the other musicians are doing while he's playing!
The odds of me living as long as he did, let alone being able to perform like this is highly unlikely!
In honor of my mother (who I buried 1 year ago today) I proudly present Mr. Pinetop Perkins/he comes on at about 3:10:
