Take care of yourself. I have found that at difficult times like this it's all to easy to let it affect your health.

Surgery #1 went well. Took them 4 hours on the nose. He's feeling the tingly sensation you get when you wake up and realize your arm or leg is 'asleep'. Kinda like thousands of pins and needles poking into the muscles. The doc says that's because he's finally getting blood and the tissue is starving.
They're keeping him in ICU for now so I'm not allowed to stay overnight with him. This is a good thing though. I haven't had much sleep since sunday. I think I'll hit the sack early and catch up before they move him to another wing and I have to take night shift again.
Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.

Good news. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
And take care of your health. A colleague of mine had a daughter who lived in the hospital for a year (30 serious operations). When she finally went home, he collapsed and burned out because he had neglected to think about himself.
Eat well, rest when possible and don't stress about the things that have to take the back seat because of this.
Godspeed.

Well, Operations 1 and 2 were a success. The pain meds are making him loopy though so I'm heading back in to sit with him again. Night shifts are turning into a couple hours off in the afternoon to go shower and shave then get right back over there. .
I'm thankful for a hospital that works with the family when someone is willing to stay with him so they don't have to restrain him. Thank God for such blessings.
Looks like they're going to wait a few weeks for operation 3. I hope it's not too late by then but they are correct. He does need to regain his strength before the last operation.

Yea, thanks. I've been showing him the razor I've been refinishing and he keeps thinking I'm going to shave him with it but I can't with the blood thinners. I'll only be able to test it on myself before shipping it .
I'm back in full time night shift with him. The wife is showing up in the afternoons so I can come back and shower then run back to the hospital. Of course physical therapy had the weekend off so I'm also being a therapist for him as well. He's improving well but still loopy from the meds. They say they're going to ship him to rehab so maybe I'll get on a semi-regular schedule this week or so.
