Fwiw, public forums can only exist within certain constraints.
It is allright to disagree with someone, but that does not mean that you have to be rude or disrespectful.
You don't do that in personal conversation either. At least I don't.

People tend to feel strongly about politics and religion, and often will take disagreement personally.
That is also why I usually refrain from participating in political or religious threads.
Even though these topics get discussed only in the off-topic section, they influence the other forums because people might hold grudges or form opinions of each other, based on 'lively' discussions in the OT section.
