Note how it says armed AND disciplined. 'And'. If you pick one, the other comes with the territory. If you don't want the latter, you shouldn't get the former. At least according to George Washington.
In other words, if you can't be a responsible gun owner, you should not have a gun. I am not against gun ownership at all btw.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 15I've been in that spot at our local minute market.I refrained from shooting the bad guy because the clerk was directly behind the bad guy and in the line of fire.No story was ever posted about those events. It would have an awkward story to spin,me with half rack of beer in one hand and 45 in the other stopping an armed robber!LOL

All, Let's keep things under control here.
No need to let things go downhill yet again.
Don't be easily offended and don't be a wiseguy.
Instead, try to be constructive in arguments.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I like the fact that the old timer foiled the crime and ran those tugs off. But why is he still firing off rounds as they are out the door and falling over each other.

Thanked: 13247Washington's quote has very little to do with "Today" and also everything..
Where he says Disciplined he is talikng about "Holding the Firing line" which could aslo relate to keeping calm under stress today... Holding a Firing line back in the 1700's took a discipline that is near beyond comprehension today.. You literally had to stand and face enemy fire..
There is a good depiction of this in the movie "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger
Today it would mean, holding up under extreme pressure, how you do that, either with accurate controled fire, or the steady ability to not squeeze the trigger because the shot is not safe, depends on the actual situation...
Until you have been in a situation where somebody is intent on taking your life you will not know what you will do, the odds however are very much against you doing anything positive..Last edited by gssixgun; 12-18-2012 at 01:40 PM.
