Thanked: 1185Important Safety Tip
It's not often that the humble art of shaving makes the local newspapers so I felt obliged to share this. More than that I will only add the following: 1. Only in Florida 2. Wow!...Just ...Wow!
The older I get, the better I was

Yeah, I think 'wow' is the word!
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Pretty sad if that article is considered fit for print. That's not a news article, but an opinion piece, written by someone whose language skills are more fit for grade school playground than for a newspaper.

Thanked: 983There are a lot of newspapers around the globe that fill their pages with that writing style Bruno. It is sad, yes.

I am used to news actually being 'reporting of facts and events'.
It makes me sad that people would settle for such drivel. If you willingly accept spin and emo stories instead of news, just because it happens to be spin that sounds comforting, you really deserve what you get.
This is one of the reasons that most Belgium news programs on tv and radio are so similar. They report more or less the same things, in the same fashion. We are not being told how to feel, and the presenters don't use biased words to get eomtional responses. For that reason, it doesn't really matter which program you watch or listen to, because you get the same info.
The main differences between channels are the amount of local news / the amount of sports news / the amount of financial news. If a story like above would be printed here, it would cause national scandal, and be a career ender for the editor who allowed it to pass. This is really just bottom of the barrel stuff.Last edited by Bruno; 01-24-2013 at 11:49 AM.

Thanked: 983I hear ya there Bruno. If we want spin we can tune in to any news channel or make a selection from about 50% of our newspaper copy.
If we want unemotional type news, we just need to tune in to SBS. The lady that presents that does a great job of unemotional. For a little bit more of a balance we have the ABC.
