Perhaps. But only if you were one of the nobles.

Because otherwise you'd probably be a peasant working himself to an early grave in bad conditions or dying of some wasteful disease. And even if you'd see battle, as a commoner you'd not have access to armor, or swords, or advanced weaponry. You'd wear something leather and a hat, and carry a pointy stick. and then the guy in charge told you to run towards the enemy in large formation, acting as arrow fodder so that the cavalrie had an opportunity to charge.
