The world has changed and become less civilized as have people and the way they interact with others.

I remember my dad telling me when he was in grade school back around 1924 or so and a kid wasn't acting properly and was failing the teacher would call the parent into school and usually the parent was an immigrant from Europe and the parent would slap the kid silly in front of the class after the teacher had already done it. Fast forward to when I was in grade school in the 1950s and in the same situation the teacher would just slap the kid across the face and write a note to the parents. Fast forward to this day and age and if the teacher is lucky enough to get any parent to show up there is a good chance the parent will blame the teacher for failure and probably gang up with the kid and beat up the teacher. If a teacher so much as looks at a kid cross eyed these days it's lawsuit time.

it's all about the break down of society.

Interesting points so far. I was also mostly raised according to the first post. Yeah, it's made me a better person. All except being 'drug' to church. Still a little bitter about that.

I guess it depends on where and when a person grew up. Drugs were all over the place where and when I grew up.

i agree on that ... , i was lucky enough that when i was 15 to 18 (i didnt get my drivers lic till 18) my mom used to drop me off to bow hunt after school , or me and my beagle to rabbit hunt and considering the crowd i hung out with behind my parents back hunting/ fishing kept me out of a lot of trouble and drugs, but again i was no saint ..lol ...kids used to not be allowed to hang out with me cause i got my first tattoo at 15 and had a mowhawk , but never was i disrespectful , always had manors , and kept out of trouble so my parents allowed me to do more and had trust ... a 14 &12 year old(brothers) across the street from me tried to sell me drugs , a week later police raided the house .. week after that the brothers got caught again ... the next day there walking down the road smoking cigs .. if that was me after the first offense i wouldnt of even been allowed to look outside let alone go anywhere

Bowhunting and rabbit hunting after school???? By todays' standards your mom would probably be brought up on charges.

Nor was I a saint, I got into my fair share of trouble.

I used to wander alone in the woods when I was far too young by today's standards as well, often with sharp or dangerous objects. I turned out fine.
