Look how much .22 is on GB, and then tell me there is a shortage... Maybe there are more people buying, but the folks playing middle man to make a buck are clearly a huge part of the problem. As are all the people buying from them.

For the manufacturers to make money by decreasing supply would require a conspiracy of all the major ammo manufacturers. I don't think there is an ammo cartel.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

In light of the crap that has been comming down the past few days, perhaps the crowd in D.C has a hand it what the ammo companys can do.
The feds pay farmers not to plant certain crops to control markets, may be the same with the ammo makers.

I believe this to be the main problem. I've been seeing Wal Mart ammo on gunshow tables since 2008, with 50% to 100% increase in price.

This is the bulk of it right here. If you want our govt money, dont sell to "those guys".

BTW CCI and Federal are both owned by Alliant Technology, the people that have the primary govt contact and run Lake City Army Ammo Plant.

Whats happening IMO, is the feds cannot achieve any gun control, and they know it,But they may be able to curtail the fodder that feeds the guns.
Do not be surprized if in the near future all the ammo companys get bought out by the feds and they control 100%of the ammo.
You got no primers? no casings? no powders, you are better off with a 2x4.

I have to admit, I have seen Zip-Guns made from what used to be a 2x4; never have to worry about them rusting.

Have you read the news lately? They are.

On topic, for the first time in the last year my local Bass Pro actually had 5.56 on the shelf. They probably had around 5K rounds. I took my 200 round limit. As for rimfire, there was nothing but 17HMR. Nice to see 5.56 finally though. I expect to see things coming back to earth soon.
