40 + years in the Printing Industry. I used to be a craftsman, but that was before automation and computers. Now day's I work for the world largest manufacture of Printing equipment. Everything has been computerized and automated. I do technical support keeping things running for our customers. If they're talking to me chances are somethings not running and someones not making money. Live in front of a computer all day working remotely on systems and equipment.

Many years ago I worked in the printing industry too. In fact it's how I got introduced to computers and ended up in IT. But before we went digital I always enjoyed telling people I was a stripper.

I've spent many years working on the electronic systems of printing presses. Mainly Miehle, Miller, Harris, Heidleberg, Jet, and lots of web presses. Also folders, cutters, and other associated equipment. I moved on to other types of service when the bottom fell out of the printing industry in the early 90s.

You are right, they are all computerized now. I'd have to learn all over again.

well i am a lead man in a copper tubing company, i like to call myself a recycling engineer, but that only applies to those that believe the bs. i spend my nights watching all that scrap copper(aka the other gold) melt down and made into 28' long logs to be cut up and then extruded into pipe of various sizes. and i am a professional sleeper.

In a recent life I was a cabinet maker. When my boss decided that $200,000 wasn't enought to live on he laid off almost the entire shop. Through a series of luck, misfortune and events that aren't entirely clear to me I now perform entomological research, teach an entry level microbiology lab, and am working towards a degree in osteopathic medicine.

My degree is in Chemical Engineering. Briefly thought I landed my dream job as a gov scientist (booted after 6 months). Now independent consultant for anything they will let me do, primarily technology evaluation.
