Thanked: 2027Is probebly a wash,granted, living conditions are far better for some,But I still contend americans have de-gressed as to morals,Honesty,work ethics,diets,the ability to know how to grow and preserve a familys foodstuffs etc.

You mention morals. But I can flip that coin too.
Segregation and racism was widely approved of.
Wifebeating was considered a private matter covered under a version of 'don't ask, don't tell'
Factory directors and managers made sure that doctors would not act against bad working conditions.
Etc.
How exactly is that showing a higher level of morals compared to today?Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Yes, laws have been passed to "end" much of that however in certain quarters attitudes have changed little or some activities like wifebeating are still alive and very well. Back in the old days there was a thin veneer of civility and it's true that certain crimes were either not reported or non existent as compared to now so you need to compare society as a whole and in my view all things considered there has been a general breakdown of society.
