Your signage. I would turn around. Others might think that the road just lead to another road, and were using it as a Thu crossing to somewhere else.
The signs that usually stops me cold is the Dead End; No Outlet signs.
But ... If you can't see your house from the point were your signs start... Any signage like this only indicates a deserted area, away from prying eyes, to go to 'lite one up and have a quickie!'

Sorry, if you want people to stay out, you need to make it more inconvenient than a sign that can be driven past.
For what it is worth, threatening signs are probably less effective. The legal defenses available to someone who was shot at while driving an open road make these signs a total joke.
Most areas have laws regarding entrapment. Really your best bet is to either fence/gate up or live with the idea that people will drive up your road occasionally.

So what I have found out since posting this and talking with my attorney which made things much more clear..
1. It is my road :) so legally I can do whatever I want, except hamper access by the people that have deeded access (no locks without them having a key)
2. We have to post a sign at the front of the road that states "Private Road" best right above the Street name sign
3. This enforces all the "Private Property" signs down the entire road
4. The gate is a bad idea because it means that the "Fire Dept" does not have to enter, besides all the snow problems. so unless you are keeping something in, gates are bad..
5. The archway is a good idea but it has to meet minimum requirements for the "Fire Dept." so does the road actually.
6. Once the archway is in it does delineate a perceived boundary which makes Trespass much more enforceable.
7. Regardless of fencing, or gates, or boundaries, Trespass is pretty much un-enforceable anyway :( unless they are hunting that is a big deal up here..
8. The neighbors are all for the "Private Road" sign up front, as long as I buy it hehehe
Interesting conversation all in all though, she said never use threatening signs, just in case you ever have to actually use force that looks bad in court, even signs like "Beware of Dog" can be used against you in civil court...
Than my suggestion is a sign that says BEWARE OF GLEN-I WILL KEEL YOU :)

or you could put a "No access road sign"

Beware of dog signs in Civil Court says,
You know the dog was dangerous, and the 5 year old child that opened the gate can't read,, YOU LOSE!!!!
The "Trespasser's will be shot on Sight" etc: signs in civil court mean, "See your Honor the home owner has a propensity toward violence, I am sure a more reasonable person would have used a different solution" YOU LOSE !!!
Note the Civil Court part, none of this probably would mean anything in Criminal Court in most places
Like I said a pretty interesting talk, and my attorney is a gun gal, I just cleaned up a tested 3 for her in the past month...
