    Default Gem Junior Project.

It has been a difficult weekend, so I wanted to relax my mind & restore this GEM single edge razor box that I just got from Mephisto,,,,thanks James.
I got some felt from Wal Mart, removed the rust with Naval Jelly & sand paper.
Polished the razor & I will shave with her tonight.

    Thanks for looking,
    Hirlau

Nicely done Hirlau! I guess i am getting old but nobody talks about naval jelly anymore. Its good stuff but you have to use a little elbow grease! Maybe that's why!!

Yes, it works great. I learned about it recovering stamped frame numbers on stolen cars that we pulled from the canals, submerged for years.

Very Nice Work John! Very Nice! :

What do you use to adhere the felt to the metal with/spray adhesive??

I used a glue similar to super glue, but thicker & does not dry as fast , it is mainly used to attach fletchings to arrow shafts.

It didn't Tom, the lather rolled off, but the whiskers just stared back at me. I tried all angles, I think that the blade I put in it was not a shaving blade, but maybe an utility blade made by GEm,,,,is this possible?

It's in the SOTD thread, for today. I'm going to get some old vintage blades off Ebay next month & try one more time. If no good, she will become a show piece.
