Thanked: 61frederick reynolds 3/4 in blonde horn brass lined bone wedge
took me a couple days to do this one... had to replace a scale that delaminated when i pulled tape off of it.. then that same side cracked on the last pin!.. it cut me 3-4 times and the blade needed centering.. what a pain! but its' done and it has clean lines... not my best work but acceptable to me

Lingerie! That's the term I was looking for. Yes they are some sweet scales - wispy almost, like lingerie. The wedge and liners make it complete. Great job!

very nice job
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Now everyone is entitled to an opinion but I was reading a thread just a few days ago that criticised modern shapes in restorations of old blades - therefore your squared off ends and brass lined wedge would be seen as inappropriate. Just goes to show how wrong people can be at times.
Beautiful job.

Thanked: 13246
There is an old saying about opinions hehehe
I always look at the workmanship, IMHO that is what counts and as seen here the workmanship is excellent
The fact that I happen to like the beautiful Horn and the choice of wedge decoration is an added plus, but even if it were Neon Green with a Screaming Yellow wedge it is always the workmanship that counts first "in my opinion"
Edit:
@ the OP was the tang off center ??? did you check it first ??? I have found I can save a ton of heartache and work if I just take a second to check the straightness of the razor steel itself first, then build the scales to any error that is there...Last edited by gssixgun; 12-13-2013 at 09:21 PM.
