    Mark that's a beauty! Meant to ask - I'm about to order the power source, wands, and wash from Caswell so I can finally get around to restoring gold plating (and adding some to tangs I think are begging for it). On the one above I notice the gold wash has a nice even finish - so how "clean" do you have to get the metal to get that smooth mirror gold finish? I assume the tang needs to be mirror finished but don't know for sure.

    Yes, it has to be as perfect as you can get it . The gold doesn't hide a thing? It accentuates it.
