Thank you.
Correct. I like working on steel. Forging and grinding is my passion. The final polishing and making scales is like doing the dishes after cooking a good meal. And plenty of people have the tools and skills to polish / sand a razor and make scales, but lack the resources to do the forging, heat treatment and grinding. With cooperation projects like this, everybody gets to do the part he likes best and people can make their own custom razor without needing to become a smith.
Btw, the phenomenon of a knifemaker who makes the entire knife is a relatively new thing. Historically, people specialized in certain parts. A smith made the blades, a cutler would do the grinding and polishing, and someone else would make the handles / scales. The same setup exists in Japan, even today, where a finished sword is a collaboration between at least half a dozen people.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 60Great looking razor! Scales and blade both look nice, and I'd also be afraid of the point on that heel. I keep a goatee and use the heel extensively around it, I'd have to take extreme care with that point

Looks great! I'm having my Bruno blade sent Friday and I'm very excited to finish it. I think its a great idea and I'm happy to be part of the process instead of buying a finished new blade.

Great idea and great outcome. Rob, you are quite the scalemaker! I would give my "Brunoblade" a nice smile!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Wow, what an amazing finish! I have to admit that I passed over the Brunoblade in the classifieds without looking too closely, but now I'll be back. Fingers crossed my pockets allow me to get hold of one at some stage - can't promise that the finished product will be anything like this though, great work!
