New Ducklings In The Nest
These just landed for a little R&R. Blades decent enough. Scales...well I'll see what I can do.
I have a Satinedge and a Satinwedge here.
On the Satinedge with the embossed scales they were a bit shallow. On the reverse one of the poor ducks was missing it's head and the "D" in Duck was half gone.
I got them back in place so I could add gold to the script .
The scales other than that cleaned up just fine. Got pretty clear.
The wedge , well the blade was OK on most accounts. The scales? Well here again it depends on what you think is bad and what you can do about it.
They're Ducks and I had to do what I could to save the day if possible. I wanted both to look at least close to looking factory fresh.
Here too the blade cleaned up fine. On both blades I went with the factory texture on the blade, polished the spine and stabilizer. For the remainder of the shaft and tail I went with the frosted look as I see on originals.
I made very small collars for the Nickle Silver pins to try and keep them looking stock.

And where I ended up. Copper washers not brass. Huh, how 'bout that.

A couple more and with them with the rest of my "flock" and resting comfortably in the new Nest I bought for them.
In case you missed the post here is the nest , or Den as some call it I just picked up. And you can see the rest of the collection.

Did you consider a stainless washer for the pivot, or is that a poor choice of material?
What about using a clear wedge to compliment the scales?Than ≠ Then

Wow nice save on the scales carver.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Thanks guys !
For the spacer washer , as well as much as I can, I like to try and keep
As many factory parts as possible.
Usually these are brass but in this case copper.
As close to what I think a razor looked like when it left the factory is what I try and duplicate.

Thanked: 603And I like them, exactly for that reason: they're like a single bloom of color in an otherwise monochromatic landscape (the frontside scale inlay, notwithstanding)... and I love the look of copper. Wondering, though, if over time they'll develop verdigris -- that green patina -- and, if so, how to prevent or treat it?
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
