Thanks but I feel they need work after viewing some SOTD shots but they get the idea across.
I use an older Canon. I have a 3 sided box lined with white poster board. And lighting is 2 of the little aluminum clamp on lights with paper taped over them to diffuse/soften the lighting.
Then I just set the razor up, point and shoot. I know nothing about aperture /time or things that might help me take better shots.
So far it seems to work ( dumb luck) but many seem to like them. Good enough in my book.

Here are some pictures of the one I'll be working on. The grinding took off the arrow symbol after the circle on the blade, and took off part of "The Celebrated HOLLOW GROUND RAZOR." There's enough metal left to make a good razor, but definitely a marred razor.







I'll leave as much of the etching as I can, but I could see being tempted to eliminate the etching altogether, rather than have half of it show up.

You can certainly try. You'll find out more as you go along. Depends what you want to see. But a clean sweep and you can say it was never there! Them a brushed texture or full polish.

Good thought. Looking at a half-erased etching would always make one think of the marring. Looking at no etching would not.
