17/16 roundpoint in blue denim kirinite
This was finished today. I did the rough work and heat treatment some time ago, and I noticed it during the finishing stages. I didn't do all that I could before het treatment, which just means that it took longer after I went with a round point this time. I did the same half circle filings top and bottom. After heat treatment I cleaned them out with diamond files. that left a fairly decent surface that was easy enough to polish.
Btw, the white line you see in the blade hollow is not a transition between 2 different types of steel or such. I wich I could forge like that and make it come out so clean No that is just a trick of the light and the reflection of my ceiling in the blade hollow.

Btw, in this picture the razor is already honed and shaveready. the bevels are that narrow

To be honest, I don't even know what instagram is, other than something to do with pictures
I agree, the paddle tails go well with certain types of razor.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

How do you get so tight? Presumably you also honed with tape, right? In my very limited experience I think I grind too little on the hollow and then hone a big flat bed on the spine so there's a consistent surface to follow. Yours doesn't show any such thing.
Awesome by the way!

As with most things, the key to success is practicing a lot. every dozen razors, the last one goes better than the first one.
that said, No matter what type of grind you are doing, the part near the edge should be THIN. Before I start grinding after heat treatment, I touch the edge to the belt so that it is shiny.
Then I start grinding, and I grind until I can no longer see light reflecting on the edge. Yes, that means I grind until the razor passes the thumbnail test.
If you stop before that point, it just means a lot more honing, and wider (uglier) bevels.
the main challenges are keeping the lines true and the grind even, and not overheating the blade.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
