Very few ebonys are jet black, most have brown overtones, next time after sanding and before using renwax, use some canned air or a compressor to clean out the grain,Than oil the wood,Than use renwax.

Have you tried Mahoney's Walnut oil or the Oil Wax Finish they make? I use it on wood handles and bits for espressso machines. Walnut oil is also thinner/dryer for artists' oil paints. It works well with exotic woods like cocobolo and rosewood that are naturally oily. The finish is a combination of Walnut oil and Beeswax and is food safe.

The box looks great, just another vote for some "how to" words.

We will see. Might offer a limited amount for those who don't have to tools to do this.

I wouldn't worry about universal sizing, if you give the dimensions that you used we can scale up and down (hopefully). The razor I got from Bruno is much larger than my 5/8 I got from Andy.

I work in sheet metal and I'm thinking of making a box out of stainless.
Have you thought of engraving it and filling it with white paint?
