Good work, Mark. I would expect nothing less. I would like to see you eventually sizing the blades bigger and the scales smaller a bit. I see a French theme. The set will be smashing and the box. Ivory?

    Mark my friend,

You never cease to amaze me! Nice Work, Very Nice Work!!

I have a friend who winters in Puerto Rico and goes scuba diving. He's sent me conks much larger than my fist and the insides are nicely polished just by the sea. I'm wondering if those could be incorporated into some of your magnificent works. Just wondering.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

A French theme was just for the two. Would I like to have bigger blades? Sure. But I didn't want to wait around hoping to find one stamped Monmartre in 7/8. I worked with what I had. The Japanese blade follows a Cherry Blossom design. Da to the scars being smaller I could but the blades would stick out the bottom of the scales. And in most of these I used the outline of the original scales as the overall template.
The box will most likely be wood and carved as carving is my profession. Covering a box large enough with Ivory would be a bit much and the stock I have to do that I'd rather use for scales.
    thanks

Well, perhaps the eventuality of a French-themed set and a Japanese-themed set in the future?
Then, you would only have 10 to go!

Haha, anything is possible . If they keep showing up I'll just split the set. All I need is an excuse of any kind to build more. I have enough Ivory on hand that I was considering a W&B set as I have plenty of those as well. But the fru-fru seems fitting on the French pieces.
I also have some stray Russian blades that could be interesting with scrimshaw, onion domes etc.

Not really a problem since I don't sell my razors. That's why there are about 500 around here. Razors check in but they never check out. And I doubt anyone would be willing to buy these. I do them for my own amusement.

This is a work of art

Imho frameback blades are a bit more difficult to restore, once got a good cut from a frameback while hand sanding.

It was brought to my attention that the script should read Supreme Tranchant. Once by a Frenchman and another who found an example of this blade with the full script. So,,, I had to also add the N and the T. Now it's complete and translates to Supreme Sharpness. Very cool.
Now finish cleaning it, hone and she's on deck for tonight's shave.
