An old Pitchford wedge with pressed leather scales. Been lying in it's box for ages.

Beautiful razor. The scales look really nice. I've got a razor with a heart on it, but it is a different maker. I guess several people used that in their hallmark.
Did you copy the old scales or just shape them the way you wanted??

I handled some wood at the Woodcraft store that felt really oily/waxy. I believe one of them was ebony wood. Does it take longer to sand? Do you put anything on the wood after your done or leave it as is?

Thanks As I have written in the description, the scales have been copied after the very old horn scales.
Many kind of wood are not water resistant. In that case I use to coat the scales with 12-15 thin layers of CA.
The Guaiacum wood is exceptional. It is so oily that it does not need any additional protection. I think it will last as it is for many years.
