Thanked: 3215Came out even nicer than the mockup, did you turn the collars or are they domed. Very classy collars and pinning.
Another winner, Mike.

Received it in the mail today. (not in time to shave with it before work ) Pictures do not do it justice. It is magnificent! Mike you did an outstanding job. The bevel has a mirror finish... I can't wait to shave with the old Anchor. Can't call her rusty anymore.

Mike, for future reference; did you use tape when you honed it?

Dave...
Yes I did use tape to hone it. I use a very thin electrical tape about 1/2 the thickness of normal 3m tape which is about 7mil I believe. I normally will put 4-5 layers of tape on a razor to start to set the edge profile, and then reduce the layers as I go through the hone progression, stopping when the bevel is about the right width. Of course every razor is a little different.
When you strop be sure to allow a small amount of slack in the strop (as you would any wedge type blade), not completely taut. I'm sure you already know this. When you feel ready to refresh the blade on a hone start with 3 layers of 3M tape and with just a couple of laps only look at the edge with a loop. If it looks like you are beginning to create a 'micro-bevel' take off a layer of tape and that should work for you.
Don't forget to let me know how it shaves for you...Lupus Cohors - Appellant Mors !
