Cool "Silver & Black"...8/8 'ANCHOR' Razor

Here's some before and after shots of a project razor that I just finished restoring. When I say project, I mean this Really Was a PROJECT! Took quite a while to get this one done but the effort resulted in a real nice shaver.

Started out as an 8/8, and believe it or not I was able to only lose a 1/32 in the width by the time I was done. There was one small pit that I left just above the bevel because I wanted to leave as much width as possible, and removing it would have meant losing an additional 1/16th loss in size width wise.

Polished Crocus satin finish with black horn scales and a black horn wedge. Dressed it out in domed SS collars and Nickle Silver pins.

For more pics on the project, I posted a tutorial with a lot more pictures in another thread ( starts at post#19 at: http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...-anchor-2.html ).

Here are some before shots followed by the finished razor:

Nice outcome, Wolfpack. I never would have thought it was possible based on the first pics.

Looks good, Mike! Lots of work, I'll bet.

You should have weighed the blade on a gram scale before and after. Would be interesting how much you had to take off!

Thanks Guys! Working on a razor like this really makes me appreciate the 'normal, average, run-of-the-mill, sorta messed up' restores. Lot of metal removal on this baby....

Ha! You have no idea Tom! It is considerably more lightweight...but still a great shaver. Zak said I should vacuum the floor and make a new razor with the metal dust.
