Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

They look quite nice. To make a pair is twice as nice. Hat's off to your patience and skill!

I rest my case.

Thanked: 119This was the first attempt for carved scales (Dec 2014). I used dremel, dental drills, abrasive stones. I attempted an inlay that failed.
It help me understand the carving got to be done with the engraver (hand, pneumatic whatever) and very little rotary.
After a few months I gave a go to the set above. The difference between hand and rotary carving it's obvious. The set is kept in a modified pencil box
A different design was attempted but failed (I transfered the drawing on the bone blank with carbon paper only without redefining it with a pencil as I did for the pair and this resulted in discrepancies between scales, very difficult to correct). I fitted that worn out blade you saw in the SOTD.
I liked the design though so I did a go for another set. It didn't cross my mind to take pictures during the process
A picture with the razor that turn out the best so far
