    Default Carved camel bone

I've been watching the forum for some time, without posting anything. I've learnt a lot and I feel the need to give something in return. The work of some users here was inspirational and the spark for this project was "mycarver". The project dates back last year, was followed by a second one and I'm about to start another if it keeps on raining so I'll try to update it while I'm getting along.
There we go, I'll leave the pictures "talk"

So I am more than just a little bit impressed. I have been messing around and trying little bits of carving here and there. However my online research has left me lacking in ideas for hand carving tools. There is a lot of stuff about using rotary tools (Dremel) but not much on hand carving. What chisels are you using? I would like to know more.

I had the same problem and I'm still on search and learn. I managed all this with some sort of scraper I fitted in engraver handle. I bought it from here 10X Carbide PCB board 0.1mm 45 Degree Engraving Bits CNC Router Tool V-shape | eBay.
I am in need to move forward and this can be done, I believe, by understanding how chisel geometry works. I found some information here The Carving Path
Overall, the information is scarce and sometimes I wonder if it's a lost trade. It is unbelievable what could be done by hand just over 100 yrs ago. All I can say it's a try and error learning process

This is the only reliable information about the tools needed / used for hand carving Tools • Janel Jacobson ~ Small Sculptures and Netsuke
As I don't know (yet) how to make my own I decided to go for those carbide tips...and up to some extend these worked
