Default 9/8 San Mai Hybrid/ 7/8 Damascus Buckeye

these are the other two blades in the batch i had made, they came out pretty amazing!

with the san mai blade the billet is actually stainless steel with the high carbon, when i etched the blade there was carbon migration where the weld was, it was really fuzzy looking so i ended up sanding it off... i dont know if i should have etched it longer to bring it out more but it didnt look all that well...i didnt take a picture but i have another one of these to grind so i will play with the etch on that one... the scales on this are mammoth tooth with some honey comb aluminum and finally a wood i cannot remember at the moment lol love it! also yes i did make a spacer and not a wedge on the hybrid, only because i didnt want too much stress on the material...

next is the damascus blade, which came out amazing! i was worried about too much of the 15n20 showing up too much on the edge so i drew the blade where the steels were really blended together. I didnt really have any hiccups with this blade other than i feel like i put way to much nail polish on because the bevel of the blade isnt that thick lol The handle is a gallery grade natural buckeye burl, believe it or not this is the piece with the least happening on it...

Those are some heavy duty looking blades. They look great.

well, now that you mention it, they do look a tad thick to me ( the scales that is). The first one especially looks thick and i think a wedge instead of a spacer would look better. My experience says that too much curve in the scales makes them hard to strop. I do admire your blades and the grinds though.

Yep your exactly right, the scales are super thick not much choice on the rigidity of the material... definitely waaaay thicker than I make any of my scales these days... definitely good advice!

Now would probably be a good time to mention that I realized the wedges weren’t flush after I posted the pictures on here and squared them up

Those are gorgeous razors and scales; those may be the two most beautiful sets of scales I've ever seen!
