Default Wostenholm IXL Saber Grind in Streaked Buffalo Horn

So I picked up a couple of awesome blades when gssixgun cleaned out his drawer here: https://straightrazorpalace.com/vend...ml#post1843202

As we were also re-sealing our deck this weekend, I didn't have time or the energy to start from square one, but I DID have one of my early rescales , a honed-out Wade and Butcher American razor, that I never could get honed right. As the length and size were about the same, I just did a little substitution. Same aluminum wedge in front, with stacked stainless collars and brass pins:

The blade was in great shape except for a little tarnish and rust. Some work on a stitched cotton wheel with Mother's (don't knock it til you've tried it), followed by some hand-polishing cleaned it up nicely. I didn't get a good shot of the tang stamp, but it reads top to bottom:
    George Wostenholm and Son's
    Celebrated IXL Razor
    Washington Works
    Sheffield

Any clue on the date range would be appreciated. Glenn said it's called a saber grind; that's good enough for me-I call it beautiful. The back side is essentially a flat wedge (albeit with a good bit of spine wear). The edge is still kinda rough with a wavy old bevel, but I have high hopes that some tape and elbow grease will sort things out. The Wosties I have had so far practically honed themselves, with soft steel that takes an easy edge.

I can't wait to shave with this bad boy! Aaron/SHD

Mike-I'm afraid that I too have drunk the Wosty kool-aid. I was thinking of your Wosty problem while I was working on this one. Those and Erns are my latest jam.

edit: My wife just pointed out the dead fly in the pic lol-Ansel Adams I ain't!

Well actually... I blame my Wosty affliction, on Tom.
And get all wiggly inside, when I pick one out of the wilds.
I should do a count sometime, I don't really know how many I have now.

Oh no, My friend. That fly was feet-down and spread wings.

He came by to admire a fine object!
