It's good stuff, it's actually closer to the old Sheffield "Silver Steel" than not (Silver Steel didn't have any silver but it was the higher luster from the added chrome which garnered it it's name). Jerry Stark used to make a lot of his razors from it, he had a 52100 line and some razors made in D2. Are you forging to shape or total stock removal?

It's forged to shape. So far I really like the steel. I haven't shaved with it yet, but I plan to put it into my rotation next Sunday.

Looks good. I’m surprised you are making a mono steel razor. I love your grinding.

It sure honed nice! I've decided to move it into the Thursday slot, so I'll report my shave impressions then.

+1 Shaun,, I always enjoy looking at the profile of Victors blades.
Looks like she may sing a lil bit.

    Is that a 7/8 blade?
What wheels are you using for the grind?

    It is 7/8. I use a 4.5" and a 1.75" for the finish grinding.

I am amazed at your full hollows. Cannot find people near me with razor experience. Do you use the 4” and create a holow grind then use the smaller wheel to take it down near the spine? I would love to watch you grind one. My first ones were heavy at the edge, I am improving but still get nervous.

do you grind edge up or edge down?
