It's hollow ground on the back, but it's shallow. After the obvious years of honing there's more bevel and spine than belly on the back.

P.S. no comments on the resto job... you should have seen it when I got it from EBay

Hard to tell from the pics but did the other side have a ridge or is the spine symmetrical on both sides?

Blade steel is, again, 1095. I got a little more creative with the hamon this time (the hamon is the wavy line on the faces of the blade where it was selectively heat treated to create a super hard edge with a softer spine), but I like it better than the previous one. I hand sanded it up to 2k grit, and applied a coat of Briwax so that it would resist tarnishing a little bit. Hardness is around RC 62-64.

Thanks for bringing up this old thread - I wasn't around when it was up originally. The info on Kamisori is very welcome. I'm working on making Kamisori - have done two with traditional grind in O1, and am going to do a couple with a western grind in 1095 soon. Nothing I want to show off yet. Looks like the new post is a western grind - am I correct? I really like the scales.

here are some more pics i dont know much about it it was an ebay perchase i liked it so i bid n won it. it hones and shaves great im looking for another i think i have the bug ha ha if enybody can give me eny info maker,history ect would be nice ... thanks
