WOW! Great scales man! What were the dimensions of the original chunk of tusk? By the first picture I can't get a good perspective on how much of that beautiful material it took to make one set of wow scales. Again, beautiful work, as usual!

That is great. They look amazing. I'm sure they are even better in person.

    Weight: 220 g
    Dimensions: ca. 18 x 7 x 0,2-2 cm

---> enough for one pair of scales

mrbhagwan: Ivory is not very different to work with, like bone. I think it was a little bit softer. If you dont have cracks in the Ivory, it is very stable and heavy.

I used a machine like this, to polish the ivory:

It surely is amazing that nature knew that we would need the dentin and enamel of these animals for razor scales so many years in the future. But there they are, nice =)

Default Buddel - where are you?

I bought the razor with mammoth scales so I am posting this here - Buddel seems to have had his domain hi-jacked - www.fine-razors.de. He does not reply to emails.

Gabor, I am missing my fix of looking at your work on the web. Please get in touch so we know you are well and nothing is wrong!

    Best wishes,
    Stuart

I think that Gabor is away. Before his site went down there was a notice to that effect. I cannot remember the dates that he gave, but afaik he should be back next week. I hope so because he has one of my Le Grelots to fix the handle.

He said he was going on vacation till the 5'th this month.

I'm awaiting his return as well because my razors from him was returned due to the delivery company here in Denmark who got the packages at the border don't deliver to private people as they said.... bunch of posterior lumps of fat they are.
