Le Grelot Nr. 14 with mammoth-ivory
My first mammoth-ivory scales. Fortunately I have a new bigger belt sander for this job. On the first pic you can see the part of the mammoth-tooth, how it arrived here. Because of the many cracks, I could only make this pair of scales from it.

Don't see polished mammoth ivory like that usually. Those came out very nice!

Speechless! It's cool to see those being found after 20,000 years.

Very Nice! A beautiful job!
How difficult was the ivory to work? Was it prone to cracking or was it pretty stable?
What did you use to polish it up?
