    Default one done

This one was etched something anotherTOBACCO. I tried to make the scales look like a twist of tobacco, and give it a simple homespun appearance. I mean I lost the original washers

Next time I'll try harder, not only on the restore but pics as well.

Thanks for looking and critiques welcome

Very very nice, Kevin. I think it's just great.

Kevin came to us from the Japanese Woodworker forum. I look forward to seeing more expertly done scale work from him in the future. You're an artisan, Kevin.

Kevin, thats a great job man. Good going! The scales remind me of a pipe tobacco my grandfather used to smoke called railroad twist. It looked like a dog turd and smell like burnt crap!

OK, somebody's gonna have to say it, and being a Brother of the Briar I suppose it might as well be me:

    Smokin' hot restoration.

Seriously, a very unusual and striking effect--well done.

Kevin, that's a nice job. Makes it look old-timey, kinda like when craftsmen made things by hand, not mass produced. Good un.

Most is done with a knife: incise the spiral layout and then bevel the ends into those cuts. I also used a small triangle file and sandpaper to smooth it up. I'm glad you like it! thanks
