spalted wedgie
Here is my latest razor, it is made of 1084. The scales are a mystery spalted/burl that Randy Tuttle gave me. The finish is shellac. It has a vinegar patina.
I ground the hollow on my 1X42 tool sharpener with a round platen. I hacksawed and filed the rest. I heat treated with a one brick forge and a toaster oven.
The razor shaves well. I used a double bevel, finishing on a Chinese 12k and tin oxide denim covered bench strop.

Charlie, That is off the hook ! Great work.
What diameter platen ?
Brave move with the shellac. Love the stuff but haven't been game to try it. What do you think about it's long term water resistance ? I guess it's a bit like oil in that it's easily repaired & maintained. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
