Thank you very much for the link,

But as you can see here, he only goes to 1000 grit. That'll make for a mighty rouch shave!

I have the capacity to do it, it's just a matter of time & patience...

And I have thought of a new honing progression/angle strategy, so we shall see....

After further review. it would seem that perhaps my original bevel angle was closer to like 35 degrees...

I have reset the bevel now closer to 25degrees, and used some Seraphication(tm) honing processes for my new working edge, finished to 0.1um:

As a point of reference, here is a recently honed edge from my "Marshian" razor, Sheffield steel. They look fairly comparable. The ceramic has some slight microchipping, and the Marshian edge looks as if it may be slightly more rounded at the edge, but that could perhaps be a lighting effect:

I'd like to see what they both look like after a shave, just for durability comparison purposes.

I have been following this thread intently.

    X2!

I have visions of my custom ceramic razor, 2.75" edge with a spike point at both the toe and heel (hint, hint). Total maintenance: touchup with diamond paste once a year!

This is exciting! It's like being on the fringes of a major discovery! Have you test shaved yet?

    Type of grind?

I suppose it's a wedge, but the wedge is quite narrow....

Certainly doesn't "ping" when cleaving arm hairs...

    Test shave perhaps tomorrow evening

    The Wright Brothers

    Alexander Graham Bell

    Christopher Columbus

    Chuck Yeager

    Captain James T. Kirk

These are men of renown, known for boldly going where no man has gone before. Whether leaping off the dunes at Kitty Hawk, inventing the long-distance phone bill, or blasting Klingons into oblivion near the outer moons of Orion...these were men of stature and innovation, who did not take "no" for an answer.

Well my friends a new day may be dawning in the age of whisker removal. One small strop for man, one giant leap for shavekind....

....and while we now full well of the success of the Wright brothers, what about Arnold J. Haffenbottom, whose ill-fated first attempt at flight left him 20 feet up in the branches of a stately pine? Or Stanley Mingsley III, whose innovative first phone call made well in advance of Mr. Graham Bell's was sadly overlooked in the annals of history by reason that he dialed a wrong number...

I must state for the record that fate has thrown in my lot with the could-have-beens, the Haffenbottoms and Mingsleys of this cruel world.

The bright shining possibilties of the ceramic razor are still left unfulfilled.

I had to once again abandon the attempt halfway through the first pass....The blade felt smooth and crisp against my skin, I could see whiskers in the lather as I rinsed off the first bladeful, I was hopeful and exuberant!...yet upon a quick inspection of the what should have been shaved cheek, there remained quite lengthy stubble!

No, no, this can't be! I thought perhaps the blade was a bit too "slick" against the whiskers, going with the grain, and perhaps wasn't grabbing them. So, upon the other cheek I tried going ATG to start....no dice, still crummy results.

I hit the EJECT button, and quickly whipped out a Worldmaster 5/8 and had myself a decent shave.

P.S. Like-new ceramic razor for sale, for anyone interested in continuing my "work"

What went wrong, Seraphim? I heard some people say that ceramic can't hold as sharp an edge as steel, but I don't think this is true. Is it?

Look at posts #42&#43, by all accounts the ceramic edge is very near to that of the steel razor.
