yes the writing is still on the tang, but there is one small spot where it is unreadable. To me it looks like it says Reynolds, I'll try to get a good macro close up picture of it today with a real camera.

oh yeah.. the scales have a poly finish...
You are kidding, right? This looks great, a great combo to go along with the brush. I wished the pictures were a tab better to fully appreciate the grain in the wood a bit more but a fantastic looking piece. "but please be gentle"..... ;-)

I'm confused. In some of the pictures there appears to be no pin on the wedge end of the handles, but in other pictures there appears to be a pin. Which is it? I like the no pin look a lot.

Those are some pretty dramatic before and after pictures. The shape of those scales goes really good with the shape of the blade.

    Very nice

I am still trying to get a good macro pic of it... but to me there is no doubt that it is inscribed with a crown with a VR beneath it, then "Reynolds" on one line and "Sheffield" on the next

It's actually a flush ground pin, in one picture that was the lighting (or lack thereof) that made the pin completely disappear.

Really nice work. The work on the blade looks very good, and the scales are super. Very nice design flow, and unlike a lot of new work, doesn't look bulky. Altogether a really nice job, IMHO.
