Wade & Butcher in Canary Wood
The canary wood scales are finished in epoxy, wedge is acrylic. I still haven't mastered wedges yet. The finish on the epoxy smooth but not glass. No bubbles just not perfectly smooth. I have only seen mine so I'm not sure how smooth they get? Should be a good shaver once I get it honed up.

Very nicely done! Pining looks good also.
Epoxy can be a bugger. Done right it should look like glass. Make sure the wood is oil, dust and dirt free. If you touch it with you fingers the oil may cause a fish eye. It takes a long time to cure but patients helps here. A light cost of epoxy to seal the wood. Let it dry and sand lightly to smooth surface and scuff up the finish for the next coat to 'bite'. I put one of those picnic nets over it, the ones to keep flies off food and then cover that with a towel to keep dust off while it cures. A perfect finish isn't required if you can live with it. I have a couple from my learning curve that aren't 'perfect', but they are much better than the scales that were on it. Maybe some day when I stop buying straights my son an I can re-scale them again. Then again maybe he can re-scale them himself when he get older.
Good luck!“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

Good job. + 1 on the pins.
If you just want a gloss on the epoxy you could try a cutting compound or car polish. Just protect the blade with tape etc.
Nice tight grained timber - reminds me a little of bamboo. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
