Laidies and Gents!
I present to you: The Beardsly And Alvord Reborn!
Finished up the restoration today, and I love it!
The blade has some scratchmarks and light pitting left, but is still quite nice and shiny. Also the tang stamp is 100% intact. And just look at the design of that blade, awesome, is it not? Some chips that needs to be honed out, one quite big, and that is the next step.
The scales.....Well, if those scales is original (And I do belive they are) they are in an amazing shape for it's age! still very flexible and soft, no sign of drying and no bug bites! Only one tiny nick from the blade, and as I said that's a tiny nick! Oh, it's horn scales, probably buffalo, but I'm not sure.
Lathed some nice concave domed washers of brass, with tapered hole, pinned with stanless steel pins, filed flush down to the washer, and polished. It doesn't show on the pictures, but the idea is that the washer has a silvercolored "pupil", almost looking as an eye.
Also, the etching is quite astounding! Really, REALLY deep! And I am quite sure it is an etching after looking at it magnified.
All in all, This is a keeper!Last edited by cako72; 05-29-2009 at 11:49 AM.

Been watching this thread for some time now and I must say... no disappointments here.
All original parts (most)... but a creative pin job... wish I thought of that.
We will all have to keep an eye on you from now on... great work man.
